There is a push by one top lawmaker from Texas to put an 'Alligator Alcatraz'-type immigration detention facility in Texas.
While chairing a Congressional hearing focused on immigration enforcement in the United States, Senator John Cornyn gave his approval of more detention facilities like the one in Florida.
Cornyn even went as far as saying he wants to see an 'Alligator Alcatraz'-type facility in Texas.
"I'd encourage our governor as well as Secretary Noem to explore the possibility of locating future detention facilities in Texas," Cornyn said.
"There are 291,141 criminal aliens in the United States today who have final orders of removal," Cornyn said during the committee hearing.
The ranking democrat on the panel was critical of the Trump administration's deportation efforts saying more Americans are turning on the Trump administration which is going too far.
