Senator John Cornyn of Texas has met with Donald Trump's pick to run the Pentagon.
Cornyn said he's known Pete Hegseth for more than 10 years and that the former Fox News host has been a leader in fighting for his fellow veterans. He supports him and is interested in hearing what Hegseth would do at the Pentagon.
Cornyn said Hegseth told him women should be able to participate in combat. In the past, he has said they should not. Regarding allegations of Hegseth's misconduct, Cornyn said they're anonymous and he's waiting to see if anyone claims responsibility.
He predicts this will be a difficult, and perhaps unfair process for Hegseth and his family.
