Millions of dollars is headed to DART in its construction project of a new multi-city trail.

The Cotton Belt Trail is a 26-mile biking and pedestrian pathway running alongside the new Silver Line in the northern areas of Dallas Fort Worth.

The trail connects Plano to DFW Airport crossing through several cities in between.

The Texas Transportation Commission is giving $25-million for the next phase of construction.

An 11-mile section is already under construction.

The grant will help fund the next phase which will begin in the middle of 2027.
