LOS ANGELES — Country music made unprecedented history on the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated August 8, as tracks from the genre claimed all top five spots on the all-genre ranking for the first time in the chart's nearly seven-decade history.
Leading the historic sweep is breakthrough artist Ella Langley, whose hit single "Choosin' Texas" logged its 16th non-consecutive week at No. 1. The milestone ties "Choosin' Texas" for the fourth-longest command in Hot 100 history, placing Langley alongside iconic hits such as Morgan Wallen’s "Last Night," Luis Fonsi’s "Despacito," and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s "One Sweet Day."
Debuting directly behind her at No. 2 is Morgan Wallen’s latest single, "Been by Now," followed at No. 3 by Taylor Swift’s "I Knew It, I Knew You," a country-leaning track featured on the "Toy Story 5" soundtrack. Langley and Wallen hold the No. 4 spot with their collaborative duet "I Can't Love You Anymore," while newcomer Stella Lefty rounds out the top five at No. 5 with her breakout single, "Boston."

While country tracks previously locked up four of the top five positions during two separate weeks in July, Billboard confirmed that the August 8 chart represents the first total five-spot sweep by the genre. In addition to leading the Hot 100, Langley’s "Choosin' Texas" continues to reign supreme on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for a 34th week while maintaining its No. 1 position on the Songs of the Summer ranking.
Industry analysts credit the unprecedented milestone to a massive surge in streaming engagement, strong country radio support, and crossover momentum across digital platforms.
