Police say the driver was speeding and driving the wrong way on State Highway 360 when they approached the U.S. Route 287 southbound service road and crashed into a pipeline -- 125 feet off the roadway.

That part of Mansfield is a fast-growing area with hundreds of homes and businesses near the fire scene. With that in mind, evacuations were ordered within a mile radius until the danger was past. Highways 360 and 287 were each closed in both directions near the site of the fire.

The driver was treated at Parkland for significant burn injuries and may face criminal charges.
