The Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center is operating at 155% capacity with 464 dogs, according to a report from our media partner NBC 5.

They are now asking for the community's help to find new homes for their pets.

Due to such a high capacity of animals, over 300 dogs are sharing kennels.

For those who aren't able to adopt a new pet but still want to help, DAS is also looking for fosters for both cats and dogs.

The increase of adoptable pets in shelters has been seen across Texas, most of which are large breed dogs.

Dallas Animal Services' adoption and foster programs are open to the public at 1818 North Westmoreland Road.

DAS is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
