Dallas: Five-year-old remains in the hospital after dog attack

A little boy remains hospitalized Friday morning after he was attacked by a dog in North Dallas.

The attack happened after the boy got off the school bus Thursday afternoon in North Dallas on Timberglen on the west side of the George W Bush Turnpike.

Councilmember Cara Mendelsohn who represents the district says the boy was celebrating his 5th birthday. She says people came out of their apartments when they heard the screaming and scared the dog off.

Mendelsohn took to social media to ask for prayers for the little boy.

Mendelsohn says the owner of the dog is under arrest.

Dallas Animal Services has confirmed that they have the dog in custody and are supporting the Dallas Police Department where they can.
