The number is astonishing. 27,484 children were victims of alleged child abuse in Dallas County last year.
Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) has announced the return of the Save Jane event for Friday, April 8, to bring abuse against children into the light.
"We are so excited to be relaunching this campaign that started in 2019," says Irish Burch, President and CEO of DCAC.
During the Save Jane event, volunteers from around North Texas will sign up to read the names and ages of the 27,484 children.
Because these children are minors and their identities must be protected, “Jane” and “John” will be used in place of their names.
"We are calling on all individuals, from city officials, to CEOs, to parents," Burch says. "Anyone this issue resonates with, and you want to share your voice, we're calling on you to sign up and volunteer to come out and read the names. When you are there, it is so impactful!"
Names will be divided across six locations around the Metroplex. Each location will read approximately 3,436 names, over the course of 4 hours, until each name and age is read aloud.
You can join the Society or volunteer for this event and read names on the DCAC website.
