A Dallas congresswoman says women are being flooded with a lot of untruths when it comes to abortion laws, and she wants to help set the record straight.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (Texas 30th District) and Rep. Dan Goldman from New York have introduced the Abortion Care Awareness Act of 2024.
The bill says it would direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to carry out an outreach campaign to let women know they can travel out of state, if need be, to get an abortion.
It would also get the word out about so-called crisis pregnancy centers that she says often market themselves as comprehensive reproductive health care providers, but really are there to deceive patients about options.
Crockett filed the bill the same day the US Supreme Court heard a case that could ban the use of the abortion drug mifepristone, and she predicts that will get kicked out because those who brought it lack standing.
