Dallas is considering raising building fees to bring in more money, and some of those fees are expected to skyrocket.

Dallas hasn't increased fees for things like building permits and inspections in nearly ten years, but those fees may be going up. The city council still has to work out how much.

The ordinance to raise fees is expected to bring in an estimated $8.5 million in additional revenue and the city council is expected to vote on a new fee structure at tomorrow's city council meeting.

The new fees are expected to take effect on May 1 and will impact both residential and commercial properties.

Realtors are worried the fee hikes will increase housing costs. While many of the fees are expected to double or triple in price, the council is studying one that's expected to increase 2400%.
