Dallas already has a no-cigarette smoking ordinance, but a citizen-led advisory group wants that ban expanded to include e-cigarettes, cigars, and vapes.
The American Lung Association, American Heart Association and World Health Organization all support the vape ban....which it calls the Gold standard for public health.
Dallas is weighing recommendations from the citizen advisory group to ban vaping in public spaces. Support for a vape ban is growing because new data indicates more and more kids are using them. Some restaurant owners support the change, saying it would make the no-smoking ordinance easier to enforce.
City leaders will spend a couple of months studying the proposal and considering amendments before they present recommendations to the full city council.
