The city of Dallas is moving forward with a master plan for Fair Park which will be managed by a private company called Spectra, which is owned by the media giant Comcast.
Approved yesterday by the Dallas city council, the plan aims to revitalize Fair Park by, in part, increasing green spaces within the park's nearly 300 acre footprint.
One item in the plan calls for a 14-acre space emulating the Klyde Warren deck park over Woodall Rogers Freeway downtown.
The council hopes to make Fair Park a year-round destination, expanding its use well beyond the State Fair's annual 24-day run.
The budget for the first phase is expected to cost nearly $60-million with fund-raising expected to run through 2024.
