Dallas County says it will be closed for business on Monday, April 8th. The reason? The solar eclipse.
The announcement was made on the Dallas county web page without comment.
The decision means all county business, including trials scheduled for Monday, will have to be delayed.
Kaufman County to the east has issued a disaster declaration for Monday along with several Central Texas counties including Bell, Kerr, Travis, and Kendall.
Kaufman County Judge Jakie Allen issued the disaster declaration for April 5th through the 9th, with the county expecting around 200,000 visitors during that time, which is twice the county's population of 100,000.
Many school districts have also canceled classes for that day including Lake Travis, Fredericksburg, San Marcos, and Dripping Springs.
