Because of what Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins calls "the very dramatic and frightening trajectory of the increases in cases" of COVID-19, Dallas County has upped its threat level to Red.
Last night, Jenkins tweeted the unanimous decision of the county's Public Health Committee.
Jenkins says the county has seen "significant increases" in cases, "COVID Emergency Department visits, COVID admissions, hospital census and percent positivity."
He also reports that hospitals are facing "substantial staffing issues."
Yesterday, Jenkins reinstated a mandatory mask order applying to Commissioners Court gatherings which caused an issue with Precinct Two Commissioner J.J. Koch.
Jenkins then ordered the bailiff to remove Koch from the room after he refused to put on a mask and sent him to his office so that he could attend virtually.
