A Dallas County Sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being seriously injured early Saturday when a pickup truck hydroplaned on Interstate 35 and crashed into his patrol car, knocking him over the edge of an overpass.
The impact sent the deputy over the railing and onto Harry Hines Boulevard below. Authorities say the crash happened during heavy rain as the deputy was responding to another incident along the highway.
Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers to slow down and use caution during wet conditions as the investigation continues.
