Dallas County doesn't have enough COVID vaccine for the public

With the demand for the COVID-19 vaccine growing, Dallas County health officials say they don't have the doses to start giving to the public.

Phillip Huang director of Dallas County health says they are still trying to vaccinate front line health care workers and those in long term care facilities.

"There is very limited vaccine. When we get some more, and we hope to, we will let you know and try to get it to some of these other groups," Huang says.

One of the issues is that the state doesn't tell the county when, or how many doses they will be getting.

County judge Clay Jenkins says in the meantime, commissioners are looking at several locations across the county to administer the shots.

"There are no mobile sites for the vaccine yet. We have to be able to have our location, so that when more vaccine is available, we don't get skipped over because we aren't ready," Jenkins says.

A couple locations being looked at, Fair Park in south Dallas and the Kay Bailey Hutchison Center downtown.
