Dallas (1080 KRLD) - Even though Dallas County is heading in the right direction, officials are sticking with its "extreme caution" category when it comes to the fight against COVID-19.
Dallas County health director Dr. Phillip Huang told commissioners Tuesday, coronavirus numbers keep improving, but not quite enough to reduce threat level from Orange to Yellow.
He urges everyone to get vaccinated.
"These vaccines are very effective against serious disease. They also provide strong protection against the variants," he says.
Meanwhile, the governor's decision on mask-wearing drew criticism from Dallas county judge Clay Jenkins, who says the governor isn't following the science.
"I strongly disagree with the governor's decision not to follow the CDC's guidelines. But it is outside our purview to do anything about it," Jenkins says.
