The Dallas County Judge is encouraging people to vote in Dallas County in early voting to avoid possible confusion on Election Day itself.

Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins says a decision by the local republican party to have a separate primary election will cause a change on Election Day.

"The effect of that, under Texas law, is you'll have to vote in whatever precinct that you are in," Jenkins said. "You may not have voted there in ten years because you didn't have to. So that's going to lead to a lot of confusion and long lines on Election Day."

That decision though will not affect Early Voting.

"You can avoid that by voting early," Jenkins said. "Early Voting starts Tuesday and it runs all the way through two Fridays from now."

Dallas County voters will still be able to vote at any Early Voting location in the County.
