The Food & Drug Administration announced that it has authorized the Pfzier-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use for adolescents ages 12 to 15, and Dallas County says it will be ready to administer those shots.
The CDC is expected to vote to expand the Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday.
Dallas County judge Clay Jenkins says pending that outcome, the County will have a 'Pfizer day' this Saturday at their mega site at Fair Park in Dallas for parents and kids.
Jenkins says they are working with the Dallas ISD to have shot clinics at schools there.
Jenkins believes with vacations being planned, families will want to get their kids vaccinated so as to avoid any potential problems.
During the past 30 days, there have been over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in school-aged children and staff reported from 390 separate schools in Dallas County.
