The Dallas Cowboys fell in their season opener Thursday night, 31-29 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys took the lead with less than a minute and a half remaining, but the Patriots hit a field goal with two seconds left.
Despite the loss, fans say they feel more excited about this team.
"I'm looking forward to them doing better this year," one fan said. "It seems like it's going to be a pretty good season this year."
"Cowboys looked good. Defense played a little better than I expected," another said. "I honestly thought they were going to get washed, but if they had a chance, they had to make it a shoot-out."
Dak Prescott, returning from an injury that limited him to five games last season, threw 58 pass attempts, completing a career-high 42.
"They had all the chances in the world to win the game," one fan said Friday morning.
The Cowboys play at the Los Angeles Chargers in week two and open their home schedule September 27 against Philadelphia.
