DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders visited patients Monday at Scottish Rite for Children. Members of the team have been visiting childrens' hospitals in North Texas for 34 years.

Players signed autographs and took pictures with kids and their families.

"It warms your heart to come out here and see some of these kids," says Guard Zack Martin. "Just the smiles on their faces, it's pretty cool during the holiday season."

In one girl's room, Martin and Brandon Cooks played NBA 2K.

"We scored a bucket for her, and that was cool," he said. "But some of the girls were more excited to see the cheerleaders than us."

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders accompanied players to the rooms. In one room, Trechelle Collins says her daughter had been talking about the cheerleaders all weekend.

"It was pretty magical," she says. "She woke up this morning and said, 'the cheerleaders are coming!'"

The cheerleaders took her daughter into the hall, gave her pom-poms and taught her a cheer to perform in front of the players.

"I'm happy. It was exciting," her daughter, Serenity Jackson, says.

"They need to go ahead and put her out there this coming Sunday. I think she's ready," says Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks. "You see her joy. Everything she's fighting, that puts it into perspective to see her continue to smile and have joy, that's what it's all about."

Patients also received a bag of memorabilia. Those who were able to leave their rooms lined up at tables for autographs and pictures with the players and cheerleaders in the hospital's lobby.
