Sources with the Dallas Fire & Rescue department now confirms that a Battalion Chief is no longer employed because of a Facebook comment he made was viewed by many as racist.
Allan Springer was put on forced leave in June shortly after his post following the riots that enflamed the city in the days and weeks after the in-custody death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Springer commented on a picture showing a pile of bricks that some believed had been left in downtown Dallas to break windows. He wrote: "We need to find out who's behind this and find a good tree to use."
Many interpreted that to refer to the lynching of blacks. Springer denied that.
But now, a spokesman for Dallas Fire & Rescue says that, as of September 28th, Springer no longer works for the department, without being specific as to whether he resigned, retired or was fired.
