DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The pandemic is putting many outdoors supplies shops in a unique position. Some practically have more business than they can handle.
Shane Moore is President of Southwestern Parts and Service, a family-owned and operated fishing supply store that's been in Dallas since 1970. He says the shop has been non-stop busy since the start of the pandemic ... and it's not the only one.
"A lot of the manufactures ran out of product," Moore said, chuckling. "A lot of the shelves … you see guys going into all these big box stores, even our store … and there's empty shelves. Empty pegs. There's no product because everyone went fishing."
Moore says he's had to hire new employees to help with the demand and the store is still several weeks behind on orders. He says he appreciates the boost in sales, but he's also excited for things to settle down.
"We want to get back to some sense of normalcy, just like everybody else. I like job security but I don't like getting extremely far behind."
Even with all the mayhem, Moore says he's glad people are spending time outside.
"I'm people people are enjoying [the outdoors]," he says. "It's just translated to a lot of work for us."
