The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees named Dr. Stephanie Elizalde as the lone finalist in their superintendent search in a unanimous vote on Wednesday.
There is now a 21-day state-mandated waiting period before Elizalde can officially become the next Dallas ISD superintendent.
Elizalde is currently the superintendent of the Austin ISD where she has been since 2020.
Prior to this role, Elizalde served as the chief of school leadership for Dallas ISD. She served for 9 years.
A native Texan, Elizalde is a third-generation public school educator who has served students in various roles, including as teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and deputy chief.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced in January he would be stepping down as superintendent. Hinojosa will remain in Dallas ISD until December.
