Dallas Independent School District students wrap up the 2025-2026 school year on Wednesday, May 27, with an early release day that marks the official end of classes for more than 140,000 students across the district.
While many North Texas families have already begun their summer break, Dallas ISD held its final day today following Memorial Day.
The calendar called for early dismissal and a teacher workday as the fourth nine-week grading period concluded. In contrast, neighboring districts such as Fort Worth ISD finished on May 21, and Plano ISD, Frisco ISD, and Lewisville ISD ended on May 22.

For families, the end of the school year means the start of summer activities, camps, and vacations. Dallas ISD administrators encourage parents to stay engaged during the break through district resources for learning and enrichment. No major incidents were reported on the final day, and traffic around campuses was expected to be heavier than usual during early release.
The district will now shift focus to preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, which begins in mid-August.
