The City of Dallas has officially launched its fourth annual "Summer of Safety" initiative, offering a wide array of free and low-cost activities designed to keep youth engaged, active, and safe throughout the summer months. This comprehensive program is a collaborative effort involving city departments, community organizations, and local partners, aiming to provide enriching experiences for children and teens across Dallas.

Key Components of the 2025 Summer of Safety:

Teen All Access Pass: Starting July 1, Dallas residents aged 13–17 can obtain a free All Access Pass at any city recreation center. This pass grants complimentary entry to various cultural and recreational venues, including the Dallas Zoo, Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Bahama Beach Waterpark, and the Dallas Arboretum.

Mayor's Youth Sports Ticket Program: Youth aged 12–17 have the opportunity to attend professional, collegiate, and amateur sporting events at no cost, fostering community engagement and promoting physical activity.

SMART Summer Learning Program: From May 31 to August 9, the Dallas Public Library offers the SMART Summer program, encouraging children from birth to 18 years old to read, discover, and create. Participants can earn free books and have chances to win prizes such as bicycles and gaming consoles.

Aquatic and Recreational Activities: The Dallas Park and Recreation Department provides access to nine community pools, 17 spraygrounds, and multiple aquatic centers, including Bahama Beach Waterpark. Additionally, programs like Discover Dallas and Outdoor Adventures New Horizons offer camps and outdoor activities for various age groups.

Youth Employment Opportunities: Over 400 seasonal positions are available for teens aged 16 and above in roles such as lifeguards and swim instructors, offering valuable work experience and skill development.

Dallas Police Activities League (PAL): The PAL program engages youth aged 8–18 through athletic, educational, and recreational activities, including boxing, martial arts, and basketball training camps, aiming to build positive relationships between law enforcement and the community.

City officials highlight that the Summer of Safety initiative has contributed to a decline in youth-related incidents during the summer months since its inception. By providing accessible and engaging programs, Dallas aims to foster a safe and supportive environment for its younger residents.

For more information on the Summer of Safety programs and to register for activities, residents can visit the official City of Dallas website or contact their local recreation centers.
