Dallas (1080 KRLD)- The primary runway at Dallas Love field for commercial flights is set to begin its rebuild on April 27th, which may result in slight delays for passengers per NBCDFW.
Runway 13R-31L will be closed until February 2022 with a full rebuild in order.
Having been constructed in the 1960s and overlay added in the 90s, the runway's condition has deteriorated due to increasing traffic since the Wright Amendment expired in 2014, which allowed the facility to operate with locations other than just those within Texas and its bordering states.
For the time being, Love Field will utilize runway 13L-31R located on the east side of the airport. As a result, officials stated: "those along the Lemmon Avenue side of the airport may notice a slight increase in noise levels due to all take-offs and landings taking place on that single runway during reconstruction."
