The historic Majestic Theatre on Elm Street in Dallas turned 100 yesterday. But the birthday passed mostly un-noticed because of Coronavirus fears.
The Majestic opened its doors on April 11th in 1921, replacing an earlier theater of the same name that had burned down in 1916.
Yesterday, on what would have been a festive celebration, the doors were locked, the lights were off and the 1704 seats were empty.
Management is planning a big birthday gala celebration in September, assuming the Coronavirus fears have abated by then.
