A Dallas man who was seen wielding a crutch while confronting US Capitol Police in January is at his father's home this morning after a federal judge in Washington didn't buy the Government's claim that he poses a threat.
The Government considered Luke Coffee a threat because he was seen in video using a metal crutch while confronting capitol police January 6th.
But chief DC judge Beryl Howell rejected the claim, instead allowing Coffee to stay at his father's home on an ankle monitor.
Coffee can travel in the Northern and Eastern districts of Texas, but the order specifically says he has to stay out of DC unless he's appearing in court or meeting with his attorney.
Coffee faces charges of Assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon, interference with a law enforcement officer, obstructing an official proceeding, unlawful entry on restricted grounds and disorderly conduct on capitol grounds, all stemming from the insurrection attack on the US Capitol building.
