The use of an online genealogy test has helped police and prosecutors convict a Dallas man of a sexual assault that happened 24 years ago. There could be as many as a dozen other victims.

It was a case that frustrated Dallas Police for nearly a quarter century and Dallas County prosecutors for the last 10. 52-year-old Christopher Green was found guilty of sexually assaulting one woman. Police say he is tied to at least 10 other cold cases.

The break came with the use of something called Investigative Genetic Genealogy used on those online ancestry tests. DNA from a family member of a suspect can help lead police to a person when there was no other clue.

The jury locked Green up for life.
