A Dallas man is dead in Grand Prairie where he was shot during a fight with police.
Grand Prairie police says it all began when a woman called 911 to say a man had pulled up in front of her home in a car he had stolen during an earlier domestic violence incident. She was worried he was going to hurt her daughter.
When police got there, they found the man, later identified as Romayne Manuel on foot, but when they tried to detain him Manuel fought them off and ran for the stolen car.
At the driver's side, the officers tried again to stop him, even using a Tazer at one point, but Manuel was able to open the car door and grab a gun. That's when an officer fatally shot him.
Police had to take the pistol from Manuel's hand before it was safe for paramedics to treat him. But, it was too late. He was already dead.
