A Dallas apartment fire early Friday morning displaced 24 residents and led to an arson arrest, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
Firefighters were called around 12:27 a.m. to the Buena Vista Apartments in the 3900 block of Altoona Drive. Crews found heavy fire coming from the front and side of the two-story building and battled the flames for nearly two hours before extinguishing them at 1:55 a.m.
Four apartment units sustained moderate to significant damage. The displaced residents include 13 adults and 11 children. The American Red Cross was contacted to help with their needs.
DFR investigators said the fire was started by a man in his mid-30s following a domestic dispute. Everyone escaped safely, but the man suffered non-life-threatening upper-body injuries. He was treated at a hospital and arrested.
He was later charged with arson and booked into the Lew Sterrett Justice Center.
