Dallas man sentenced to 8 years for Deep Ellum shooting that killed one, injured several others

A Dallas man is going to prison for 8 years after he killed one person and wounded four others in Deep Ellum three years ago.

Court records show that Shamar Anderson, who was 19 years old at the time, opened fire on a group of people that was at Elm Street and Good Latimer in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas in August of 2020.

A 15-year-old by named Tyden Bell was killed in the shooting.

Anderson has pleaded guilty to reduced charges in all five cases. He had been facing a capital murder trial which could have locked him up for life without the possibility of parole.
