DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- For the second time, a Dallas man is standing trial for the capital murder of a former Oklahoma University football player.
In June, a jury was hopelessly deadlocked in the first trial of John Williams so a mistrial was declared and a new jury is now hearing evidence. Prosecutors say Williams was one of three men who set up Du'Vonta Lampkin for a robbery that turned deadly in 2022. Lampkin was gunned down in front of his home on Ervay.
So far Williams is the only one to stand trial. Another man has pleaded guilty and the third is on the run. Lampkin played defensive tackle for OU from 2015 through 2018.
