A Dallas man who killed a teenager in 2018 was finally sentenced for the crime.
The shooting happened in a west Dallas home on Bickers street December 14, 2018. That is when police say 30-year old Eugene Webb had a gun and shot 16-year old Thomas Brown, killing him and injuring a second man.
Webb admitted to shooting the juvenile victim but claimed the shooting was an accident. That story was investigated by Dallas police. But detectives concluded it fit the crime of manslaughter.
On Friday a jury agreed finding Webb guilty of the second degree crime. The jury returned after the weekend for the matter of sentencing, deciding on 5-years in prison. Webb could have gotten 20 years.
