Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics team up to feed frontline heroes

The Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics may be rivals on the basketball court, but when it comes to helping the community, the NBA franchises are on the same team.

During a trip to Texas to face the Mavs this week, the Celtics saw first-hand the aftermath of the recent winter storm.  They then joined the Dallas Mavericks Foundation in supporting an ongoing effort to feed area frontline heroes, including police and medical personnel.

Addison-based Ruthie's Food Trucks started the effort as the pandemic took hold in March 2020, donating thousands of meals to local hospitals to help provide hot meals for their overworked employees.

After last week's storm, Ruthie's shifted gears to provide meals to those impacted by the weather.

Ruthie's Food Trucks Marketing Director Robin Skinner said they have had an outpouring of support from individuals and businesses wanting to help.

Donations to the project can be made at ruthiesfoodtrucks.com. Skinner talked with KRLD's Chris Sommer.
