Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is calling on the citizens of Dallas to remain calm following the deadly sniper attack on the ICE facility in Northwest Dallas.

Johnson made the comments shortly before the FBI announced they are investigating the shooting as an act of targeted violence.

"We are a country and a city that needs prayer," Johnson said. "I'm going to ask you all to join me, also, in praying for this city, that we can come together at a time like this."

Johnson also called for patience so law enforcement can conduct their investigation.

"Let's be patient, let's remain calm, and let's let our law enforcement partners, our police department, do their job," Johnson said.

Johnson spoke a few hours after a gunman opened fire on the ICE facility near I-35E and Empire Central.
