Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson focused in heavily on the number of major corporations either moving to or expanding their corporate headquarters in Dallas during his 2025 State of the City Address Thursday.
The mayor spoke from the soon-to-be-opened Texas Stock Exchange.
Mayor Johnson touted the number of business moves that brought more jobs into the city.
"Dallas is home to this exciting new Texas Stock Exchange," Mayor Johnson said. "It will come as a surprise to no one when 'Y'all Street' eventually overtakes Wall Street to make Dallas the undisputed financial capital of the United States."
The mayor also said the city must do everything to keep both the Dallas Mavericks and Stars in the city.
He also spoke about a new public safety policy to keep crime statistics going down.
The mayor did highlight a new comprehensive public safety policy established with the goal in mind to make Dallas the safest big city in the country.
"With ten months of 2025 now in the books, burglaries are down 10 percent, robberies are down 11 percent, aggravated assaults and down 14 percent, and murders are down 24 percent," Mayor Johnson said.
