DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson says he’s taking action after voters sent a message on public safety.

During his State of the City address, Johnson announced plans for a comprehensive public safety policy following the approval of Proposition U, which requires Dallas police to hire 900 more officers, raising the force to 4,000.

These calls from residents for greater public safety and stronger accountability could not be more clear," Johnson says.

Johnson also highlighted the city’s progress on infrastructure and parks, including Harold Simmons Park along the Trinity River and the upcoming Halperin Park near the zoo, which will be Dallas’s second deck park.
