Following bickering between the city council, county commissioners and state officials, Dallas mayor Eric Johnson orders vaccine registration hubs to open in undeserved areas.
The exact locations of the hubs will be determined by the city's Emergency Management Coordinator.
He will measure internet accessibility, computer availability, and the vulnerability of populations in the city's ZIP codes.
In a letter to Emergency Management Coordinator Rocky Vaz, Johnson wrote, "city government must make decisions that are based on data and facts rather than on politics or anyone's gut feeling."
The move comes after county commissioners had to rescind a plan to prioritize the most vulnerable zip codes after the state threatened to withhold vaccine shipments.
