Dallas city leaders met Tuesday at City Hall with transit officials to map out ways to stabilize Dallas Area Rapid Transit as several suburbs weigh leaving the agency and overall ridership remains flat.
Council members pressed DART to strengthen service in southern Dallas, accelerate housing development near rail stations, and improve connections in high-demand corridors — steps they say could both boost ridership and discourage more member cities from heading for the exits.
The discussion comes as cities such as Addison, Highland Park, and others debate formal withdrawal, raising concerns about future funding and the long-term health of North Texas' largest transit system.
