A Florida real estate firm is bringing a taste of the island lifestyle to north Texas.

Minto Communities USA has proposed to build "Latitude Margaritaville," a master-planned communities in Dallas, Houston and Austin. They're designed for adults age 55 and over.

The company already has similar developments in Daytona Beach and Palm Beach County in Florida plus one in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

"Locations are carefully considered and must meet specific criteria to be selected for a community, including sufficient land; a temperate climate; proximity to an airport; convenient retail and service businesses, and nearby medical offices and hospitals," said Scott Rogers, Minto's Vice President of Acquisition and Development - Texas. The company did not offer any information about exact locations or the estimated timetable for construction.

The "Latitude Margaritaville" communities have island-style decor with amenities named after phrases or lyrics from popular Jimmy Buffett songs.
