Drivers on Interstate 35 near the Dallas Zoo may see some dust soon as Dallas leaders mark the demolition of the City Inn & Suites building.
City officials say the demolition is the first step in a long-term redevelopment plan surrounding the new Halperin Park that sits over I-35E. The project is expected to add parking and create a safer connection for families visiting the park, who currently must cross Ewing Avenue.
The 26-acre site eventually is planned to become a mixed-use community with retail, multifamily housing and other development.
