Dallas police have released more information about a deadly officer-involved shooting at a Downtown Dallas nightclub early Monday morning.
Police were already on the scene when the suspect, Kendric McDonald, opened fire behind them in a parking lot.
Within five seconds, the officers immediately ordered McDonald to drop the gun when officers fired.
Chief Daniel Comeaux said the officers involved did a great job in protecting others on the scene.
"At any moment, anything can happen out there, and I felt like officers did an outstanding job to contain that one gunman and get everything under control," Chief Comeaux said. "Basically, take his life because he was trying to take others."
Officers did try to save McDonald but he died.
The suspect shot and killed someone inside a car in the parking lot and also shot three people behind the car.
A total of three guns were found in the aftermath.
