Friends and fellow officers gathered in west Dallas Wednesday night for a candlelight vigil honoring Senior Corporal Arnulfo Pargas, Junior. He died last week from complications related to COVID-19.

"We at DPD lost a friend, a co-worker, a fellow officer. But I recognize that the family has lost a loved one, a father, a husband, a cousin...an uncle," said Major Juan Salas.

Pargas was remembered for his dedication to the community and his work with west Dallas non-profit groups.

"Officer Pargas was my joy, because he always made me laugh," said Anita Odom with Young Life. "He loved beyond what we know love his. He committed himself to making a difference."

Pargas was 52 years old and had been with the Dallas Police Department for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and three sons.
