DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- The Dallas City Council has voted to re-allocate about $7-million dollars in Dallas PD's over-time budget with about half the money going to hire nearly 100 civilian workers -- freeing up more police officers for patrol duty.
In a virtual meeting, some community members demanded much bigger budget cuts in the police department.
The city's overall $4-billion budget passed narrowly on a 9-to-6 vote -- the slimmest margin in ten years.
