Dallas police say more than 200 dogs were rescued and dozens of firearms seized during a large-scale dog fighting and animal cruelty investigation that also uncovered illegal drugs at multiple locations across the city.
The Dallas Police Department announced the results of "Operation Fight Club" after officers executed search warrants Wednesday at dozens of properties. Authorities said the coordinated effort led to the recovery of 207 dogs, the seizure of 66 guns of various types and the confiscation of more than a pound of cocaine, marijuana and fentanyl pills.
Police said the operation targeted suspected organized dog fighting activity and related criminal behavior. Investigators described the case as a major effort to address animal cruelty while also disrupting illegal weapons and drug activity connected to the operation.
Authorities said the rescued animals were removed from unsafe conditions and turned over to animal services for evaluation and care. The department has not released details on the dogs' condition or how many arrests may be connected to the investigation. No injuries to officers or residents were reported.
Dallas police said the operation involved multiple units working together to identify locations and execute coordinated searches. Officials emphasized that dog fighting operations often intersect with other criminal activity, including illegal firearms and narcotics trafficking.
