Dallas Police have announced a number of arrests related to fugitives in the area.
"Operation Clean Sweep" netted 61 fugitive arrests ranging from capital murder to aggravated robbery.
Dallas Police Sergeant Sheldon Smith says not all of them were new warrants.
"One of our female suspects, she was born in 1970," Sgt. Smith said. "Most of these warrants were fresh warrants and were actively out in the community."
Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said these are the types of suspects that police need to get off the streets.
"We're looking at those who need to be off the street," Chief Comeaux said. "There is a lot of warrants out there in the city but we're prioritizing making sure we are getting the ones that need to be off the street first."
He says the suspects who were arrested represent the worst of the worst and are likely to commit more crimes.
