Dallas Police Department’s top spokesperson, Allison Hudson, has been placed on administrative leave while a criminal investigation into her use of a department vehicle continues. The Dallas Police Department confirmed the move Thursday, describing it as consistent with department policy and prior actions taken by Chief Daniel Comeaux.

Hudson serves as assistant director of media relations and community affairs. She is a civilian employee and does not hold a Texas peace officer license. The inquiry is being handled by the department’s Public Integrity Unit, which investigates allegations of criminal conduct involving city employees. Sources have linked the investigation to an August incident in which Hudson was driving an unmarked department-issued vehicle equipped with emergency lights and sirens. A motorist filed a complaint alleging she activated the lights during a confrontation and presented herself as a police officer. No charges have been filed, and Hudson has not been arrested.

The decision to place her on leave came about a week after Comeaux publicly defended keeping her on duty. At the time, the department said it was not practice to place an employee on administrative leave solely because a complaint had been made. Comeaux also criticized the disclosure of unverified details about the inquiry, saying it could hinder the investigation. In a later statement, he described the leave decision as being in the best interests of the department and his team member but did not elaborate further. Hudson has not commented publicly.

The handling of the case drew criticism from the Dallas Police Association. President Sean Pease questioned whether Hudson received different treatment from rank-and-file officers, noting that some members facing less serious allegations have been placed on leave immediately. The association has called for consistent application of department standards. The investigation remains ongoing, and the department has released no additional details.
