Dallas police are explaining a little bit more about their recent trip to Mexico in preparation for the FIFA World Cup.

Allison Hudson with the Media Relations Unit says she along with a number of senior staff went to Monterrey, Mexico to learn about their security practices during major soccer events.

"We spent a lot of time learning their technology, how they are planning their techniques," Hudson said.

In turn, Monterrey's mayor and police chief spent some time in Dallas to learn about operations in North Texas.

"We have a group of Monterrey officers in Dallas who will be specifically going to their perspective units to co-train together," Hudson said.

She says DPD is ready for all they need to do to keep Dallas safe during event.

Recently, Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said officers also traveled to the site of the previous FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico begins two months from Saturday.
